HISTORY

2015
PASP introduced an innovative new annual initiative, presenting for the first time in Cyprus the Women’s Championship Best XI for the 2014/15 season. The top players are selected exclusively by the female footballers themselves through a transparent voting process. These are PASP’s second set of annual awards organized independently, following the Men’s Second Division Awards. Both events are held together in a special ceremony.

2017
The Women’s Awards now also include the Best Coach category. Both the coach and the Best XI are selected through open voting by all female footballers in the championship.

2019
For the first time, PASP announced the female footballer who received the most votes for the Women’s Best XI.

2020
The awards were not held as the Women’s Championship was not completed due to the pandemic.

2021
The Women’s Championship Awards are now held as a separate event and broadcast on television for the first time. A new major award, MVP (Most Voted Player), has been introduced, given to the footballer who received the highest number of votes in the Best XI as selected by each player in the championship.

2024
The Best Female Footballer was announced live for the first time at the prestigious PASP Football Awards, with the award renamed from MVP to “The Best Player”, following the example of FIFPRO and FIFA awards.

2025
The Women’s Championship Awards (Best XI, Best Coach, and Best Female Player) are now fully integrated into the prestigious PASP Football Awards.
