After being contacted by members of our union playing in the Second Division, we would like to say the following:
- Those employment contracts which expire on 30/04/2022, cannot be extended without the players’ consent. This is written explicitly in art. 2.2 of the standard contract.
- In order for an extension to be legally valid, it must be in writing.
- The clubs or the Association cannot extend the duration of an employment contract without the consent of each player separately.
- Neither can a club ask a player to play after the expiry of his employment contract without any additional payments. Even if such an obligation is mentioned in a regulation of the Association, this regulation is not valid because no employee can be forced to work for a period longer than the one he agreed, without being paid for this period.
